Educare of Omaha, Inc.
Over 20 years ago, caring community leaders saw the need to close the learning gap for low-income children before they started kindergarten. With a shared vision for creating brighter futures, a dedicated team came together and opened Educare Chicago in April 2000.
Inspired by the success of Educare Chicago, local leaders came together to form Educare of Omaha, Inc. in 2001. Through a strong public-private partnership between Omaha Public Schools, the Buffett Early Childhood Fund, and the Child and Family Development Corporation, the first Educare Omaha, Inc. campus was opened at Kellom Elementary in September 2003. As the first school to replicate the Educare Chicago model, it marked the beginning of Omaha’s commitment to high-quality early childhood education and played a key role in shaping Nebraska's early childhood policies.
The success of Educare Omaha at Kellom led to the opening of a second campus, Educare Omaha at Indian Hill, in 2009, making Omaha the first city with two Educare schools. In 2020, Educare of Omaha expanded by merging with three Early Learning Centers, more than doubling the number of families served. These schools follow a model similar to the Educare model but are not part of the Educare Learning Network. Additionally, Educare provides home visiting services through Sixpence Early Childhood Fund, supporting prenatal to three-year-old children and their families.

Our Future
In the coming years, we plan to expand our reach by opening new classrooms and enhancing our family support services. Our vision includes growing our network of early learning centers and strengthening partnerships with local organizations, allowing us to serve even more children and families across Omaha.
By focusing on equitable access to education, teacher development, and whole-family support, we aim to continue shaping early childhood education and providing opportunities for high-quality learning.
